The sky was bible black in Lyon

Blue Angel

The sky was bible black in Lyon
when I met the Magdalene.
She was paralized in a streetlight,
she refused to give her name.

And a ring of violet bruises
they were pinned upon her arm.
Two hundred francs for sanctuary and she led me by the hand,
to a room of dancing shadows, where all the heartache dissapears.
And from the glowing tongues of candles I heard her whisper in my ear...
" J'entend ton Coeur"
I can hear yor heart...

This belongs to Marrllion’s “Misplaced Childhood” Album, a conceptual album, with strong references to loneliness, despair, and also to the constant quest in finding a place in the world, or at least in someone’s heart.
I like these lines particularly, because, in them these feelings I was talking about are very intense, in her case, she is lost in body and soul, hurt, but still has something to offer… she can hear his heart, she can make his heartache disappear… two lost souls lost in the night in Lyon, searching for human contact… I don’t know why this appeals to me so much, maybe because I have also felt like this before, I can see the images in my head, I can smell the candles, I can feel the loneliness, I can fell the hope…I can hear the whisper in my ear: "'J'entend ton Coeur" …
I can hear your heart… I can hear your heart… I can hear your heart…
